What's on in the Luberon: June 2024

Flea market season is now open

Flea market season in the Luberon opens each year in the spring. The art of scouring the flea markets is a real thing in France, there is even a word for it: chiner. From Easter onwards, you can "chine" at an antique market (brocante) or a flea market (vide grenier, literally and attic empty-out) in a different village, litterally every weekend. The jack pot is when the two are combined in a picturesque village, ideally with some live music and some out door dining!

If you are looking to buy, it is important to arrive early. If you are after a bargain, it is late in the day for you!

For permanent markets (every week or even every day) the old favourites are Carpentras(Sunday), Isle sur la Sorgue(weekends), Villeneuve-les-Avignon (Saturday) and Aix en Provence (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday)
